Davy Jones cared for no one. He felt no horror, no regret when the Kraken appeared to devour the remaining survivors of a shipwreck. But once, he came upon a pair, a girl dragging a boy through the water to a floating plank. The two stuck out to him. The sharks, which usually could be counted on to eat the swimmers, were instead guiding the girl along. Perhaps she felt his gaze but she looked up at him. The Captain gasped. She was the miniature of her sister, except for the eyes, which were the blue-green color of sea-foam. The girl kicked and the plank glided effortlessly across the water towards the ship. Davy reluctantly threw down the ladder and she climbed up pulling the boy behind her. The boy’s eyes were as big as saucers as he stared at Davy and the crew. The girl smiled kindly at the boy.

“They won’t hurt you. Wait here, alright?” The boy nodded and the girl tapped Bootstrap’s shoulder. “Watch him for me, please.” Bootstrap looked slightly dazed. The girl walked over to Davy, her head held high. “Captain Jones.” Davy nodded slightly.

“Nami. May I ask why you came aboard my ship?” He was not able to keep the sarcasm out of his voice. Nami’s face remained unemotional.

“It is your fault.” She spat, the contempt clearly visible in her voice.

“What?” Davy asked. She turned her eyes on him. They went straight threw him, seeing straight to the mangled remains of his soul.

“It’s your fault my sister is confined to land. She is beyond my reach. I cannot travel that far up river. You betrayed her. To who?! Pirates, none the less. The Brethren Court think they control the seas. Ha! Do they really think just one sea goddess controls the ocean?” The Captain had nothing to say. For once, he was beyond speech. A few of the men tried to approach Nami, but water shot from over the side of the ship and smacked them backwards. She turned quite suddenly and swept downstairs. Davy followed her.

“Have you looked at yourself in a mirror lately, my dear captain?” Nami asked as she followed the snaking path to his cabin. He shook his head.

“What good would it do? I know what I look like, and no amount of magic could change that.” Davy replied, feeling his beard nervously. Nami pulled a bucket of water towards him. He looked down and gasped. His beard was being replaced by tentacles, and his nose had already disappeared. “What is happening to me? What infernal piece of magic did you cast on me?!” He yelled. The goddess failed to flinch, but merely looked on.

“You brought this upon yourself. Hearts are supposed to be in people, Davy Jones, not boxes or chests.”

“You wouldn’t understand. You don’t know what--”

“What it’s like to have a heart? On the contraire my dear, ghostly captain. I have a heart, and have lost it many a time long before my sister became infatuated with you.” Davy stepped backward, away from the bucket and glared at her. She could remain looking young forever, while he looked like a cross between an octopus and a man! Nami smiled.

“You want me to put you back? I cannot do that without putting what rightly belongs to my sister back where it was.”

“No! Having that cursed, traitorous thing inside me is worse than looking like this!” The Captain roared. Nami smiled, her eyes remaining icy.

“Oh come now, Davy Jones. You used to be such fun to play with when you were a young boy. But that was hundreds of years ago now, wasn’t it?” Davy glared at the goddess.

“You did not know of me then.” Nami smirked.

“Really? Do you remember the girl from your childhood, with the interest in the sea?” She seemed to get smaller, and took the form of a young girl with blonde hair and bright blue eyes, the bluest he’d ever seen.

“It was you!” The goddess grinned, and in the voice of young child; “Of course it was me. You see, Calypso has an interest in the fellows when the get older, so I find them when they’re young and try to steer them away. But often it drives them to the sea, and to my sister and me. You see, we can change shape and form at will, as long as we are close to the sea. But you allowed the Brethren Court to bind my sister to one form as long as the Nine Pieces of Eight exist! I cannot keep the evils of men from the sea much longer. A new era is coming, Davy Jones. One of war and misery. I cannot see the outcome, but mayhap the pirates will get what they deserve.”She shifted back to her normal form and looked over the room. Her eyes lingered on the locket. She walked over to it and ran her hand over the locket’s surface. When she turned to face him again, her face showed more sympathy.

“You may deny it, but you still care. Her heart is still yours. If only you were able to give yours away.” She walked past him, and he caught the same scent of Calypso, the smell of fresh sea water, of sand, and of a breeze. He caught her arm.

“Can’t you fix it? Any of it?” He asked, his brown eyes bearing into her sea-foam ones.

“I would like to, but the oath you swore to my sister is deeper than any magic I posess. Do you remember it? From now on I will ferry those who die at sea to a safe haven of paradise. There they will remain for eternity, and I shall sail forever to bring them safely there. For one day, every 10 years I will be rewarded with a day ashore with she who loves me best. This I swear.<r> I cannot break that, nor can I help.”

“But I did ferry them! For ten years! And when I came back, she wasn’t there!” Davy yelled indigently.

“Yes. But for how many years have you not ferried them? How many souls lie in wait in that watery grave without a hope? Consider that the next time you look at your face and ask if it was just punishment.” With that she turned and glided up the stairs, leaving the Captain of the Flying Dutchman to ponder his thoughts.

Okay to clear things up Nami is Calypso/Tia Dalma's little, really pissed off sister. She is also a sea goddess, though not as powerful as Calypso. Um Nami=wave in japanese so I thought it was a good name. I got it from [link]
So yeah. Enjoy!
