Author's Note:
Yeah, yeah I haven't written in a while. Sue me. Okay, so this part is set a year after Sokka proposed. I really didn't feel like writing another wedding, so just know that Sokka and Kayla are married and expecting their second kid (besides Yushen), Katara's expecting twins (oh joy, spawn of Zutara), and Toph and Aang are just dating. Zuko and Katara live in the Fire Nation (obviously), Sokka and Kayla live in the South Pole (which is slowly being rebuilt), and Toph and Aang live in the Earth Kingdom.

Kayla and Sokka groaned as the phone rang. Sokka covered his head with a pillow.
"Come on, Sokka, please answer it." Kayla begged. Sokka grumbled something that sounded like "it's your turn" but Kayla shot him the "I'm-pregnant-and-I'll-kill-you" glare. He quickly answered the phone.
"Hello?" Sokka asked. "Alright, hold on she's right here. Why are you calling so late?" There was a pause while whoever was on the other line answered. "Well its three here. Fine, fine here she is." Sokka handed the phone to Kayla with an apologetic smile.
"Hello." Kayla said. She heard a sniff at the end of the line. "Toph?" She asked apprehensively.
"Sorry, Kayla I know it's late but I had to talk to someone." Toph said. Kayla was instantly worried; Toph only cried if something was really wrong and now she sounded on the edge of a break down.
"Don't apologize, Toph. You can always call if you want." Kayla said. "What's the problem?"
"It's Aang. Today was our one year anniversary. Usually, I could care less, but he told me that we were going out to dinner and that I needed to dress up. So I did. I got dropped off at the restaurant and they told me there was a special table."
"Uhh…this is bad how?" Kayla asked.
"I'm getting to that! Sheesh, you're worse than Snoozles with the impatience! I sat there for FOUR hours, waiting for him. He finally calls and says 'Sorry, I was on the phone with Katara. We were getting caught up.' Hah! Caught up! More like seeing when they can sneak around behind Sparky's back." Kayla sighed. More than likely, Aang really had just been talking to Katara about mundane things. But it didn't help that Aang had been in love with her for at least seven years, if not longer.
"Do you want me to talk to her? Or him?" Kayla asked. Toph grunted.
"What good will that do? I need to be away from home for a while; my mom's been smothering me again. Would you and Snoozles mind if I came?" Toph asked, a pleading lilt to her voice.
"Of course not! I would LOVE for you to visit; it's been way too long since we've seen each other." Kayla squealed.
"Great! I should be there by noon." Toph said, sounding guilty.
"Toph Bei Fong! You were going to come all this way and not tell me?!" Kayla yelled. Sokka grumbled and pressed the pillow harder around his head. Kayla pinched his arm. "It's not like we don't have enough guest rooms. I can't wait to see you." Kayla said.
"Alright. See ya." Toph said. Kayla hung up the phone and rolled over.
"Sokka, Toph's gonna visit us! Isn't it great?!" Kayla squealed. Sokka smiled sleepily at her.
"Yeah, yeah wonderful. Now can we go back to sleep?" Sokka said. Kayla sighed and snuggled into his shoulder. The next time she opened her eyes, Yushen was six inches away from her face.
"Mommy, who called?" He asked. Kayla looked at the clock before answering him. Good, it was eight. She could get up now.
"Only the world's greatest earthbender!" Kayla said, sitting up and tickling him.
"Aunt Toph! What did she say?!" Yushen asked.
"She'll be here in time for lunch!" Kayla said, giving her son an Eskimo kiss.
"Awesome! Is Uncle Aang coming with her?" Yushen asked, bouncing up and down on the bed.
"No, he has Avatar business. You'll see him soon." Yushen pouted for a moment before jumping on top of Sokka.
"Dad, wake up! Aunt Toph is coming! Get up, get up, get up!" He shrieked. Sokka didn't move for a moment, but then he swept Yushen up in a bear-hug.
"I know! Now are we gonna show her what a good warrior you are?" Sokka asked, tickling him. Yushen was laughing so hard he couldn't answer, so Kayla began tickling Sokka, who burst into laughter. Yushen jumped up and ran away from the bed, still laughing. Sokka brushed strands of hair out of Kayla's face, and kissed her gently. She smiled at him before carefully swinging her feet to reach the floor. The next few hours she spent chasing Yushen (and Sokka) into the showers, cleaning up Toph's favorite room, and making sure there was enough dirt on the floor to make Toph comfortable. When her phone rang about 11:30, she rolled her eyes and answered.
"Hi, Aang." She could feel the guilt in his voice before he even started talking.
"Kayla, is she with you? Have you heard from her? Do I need to be on the lookout for boulders trying to squish me?" Kayla sighed and ran a hand over her stomach.
"No, she's not with me, yes, I've talked to her, and it's a maybe on the boulders. Aang, what were you thinking? Calling Katara of all people, on your one year anniversary, and keeping Toph waiting for four hours?! Are you insane?!" Aang cringed.
"I wasn't thinking, Kay, honestly. Kat called, and I just started talking to her, and it was just so easy and then I looked at my watch and it was already 10…" Kayla rubbed her eyes, trying to think of a way to remain neutral. Nope. Nothing.
"Aang, just come here, okay? I think you need to get away from all the stress and maybe have some man time with Sokka." Kayla winced a little bit, thinking of Toph's reaction to her semi-betrayal. The baby apparently did not like its mother's discomfort, and kicked her slightly. "Ouch!"
"Kayla, are you okay?" Aang asked.
"I'm fine, this baby definitely got Sokka's weird sleep clock…but I'll see you soon, right?"
"Yeah of course, I'll get Appa up and head over." Kayla twisted a string from her shirt, cursing her big mouth, when Aang interrupted, "And Kayla?"
"Yeah, Aang?"
"Don't tell Sokka or Zuko what's going on. Especially Zuko. Sitfu Hotman is mad at me anyways so this would just make it worse."
"Wait, why is he mad---"
"Gotta go, Kayla see ya soon!" And the line went dead. Kayla sighed. Sokka came around the corner, Yushen thrown over his shoulder.
"You want to come with me to pick Toph up?" Kayla smiled.
"Of course! Just let me go change."
"Wait a minute babe! Who was on the the phone?" Kayla flushed, twisting a strand of hair around her finger.
"Oh that! Uh…well…you see hon…" Kayla sighed, "It was Aang."
With that Kayla sped out of the room. "Be right back!" She called. Sokka shook his head as a smile on his face.
"What's so funny Dad?" Yushen asked. Sokka chuckled, giving his son's hair a ruffle.
"Your mother. Always the fixer. She's worse than your aunt, and that's hard to be." There was a tch heard from the hallway; Kayla came back into view.
"I am not as bad as Katara! She was born a mother-hen, and I love her for it, but we are not the same." Sokka smirked at his wife, earning a glare. "Are we going or what?" Sokka's smirk vanished; he knew better than to anger a pregnant woman.
"We are. Come on, little bit, let's get a move on!" Sokka swung Yushen up onto his shoulders and went out to the car. The drive there was filled with a peaceful silence. They sat waiting for a few minutes before Toph appeared, disheveled and tired looking. Kayla unbuckled her seat-belt in an attempt to get out, but Sokka stopped her.
"No way, babe. I've got this one." He kissed her cheek and hopped out of the car.
"Toph!" Toph sprinted towards him, and hugged Sokka, bag still in hand.
"Hey Snoozles. Where's Preggers? And Sokka Jr.?" Sokka laughed.
"Still the same ole Toph. They're in the car." Toph nodded and allowed Sokka to take her hand and lead her to the car. Yushen flew out and hugged Toph tightly.
"Aunt Toph, Aunt Toph! Feel how tall I am!" Out of the entire group of friends, Yushen at 6 years old, was the only one who never forgot that Toph was blind.
"Well, you're gonna pass me soon kiddo. But that's no big accomplishment." Toph grinned.
"Aunt Toph, Uncle Aang is coming too, so you don't have to miss him!" Sokka smacked his forehead; Yushen had unfortunately inherited his big mouth. Toph whirled on Sokka.
"WHAT?!"
"Toph, just get in the car okay? We can discuss this later. When little ears aren't present." Kayla, who had by this time rolled down the window, said. Toph opened her mouth to protest, but felt Yushen give her hand a gentle tug.
"You're so dead, Preggers. Beyond dead. But I will get in the dam--, dang car." Toph huffed, getting in and slamming the door. Sokka buckled Yushen and got back in the driver's seat.
This is gonna be a hard day's night. Sokka thought.
wow never thought I'd actually get back to this story...but here's part 7 for anyone who's actually stuck around!
more kaylokka time, taang angst, and mentions of zutara (who will reappear, don't worry)
I've grown up a lot since part 6, so if the writing/characters seem different, don't be alarmed.

As always, feel free to comment, but if you don't like the story, don't leave a comment saying that.
